Cotton Council International focuses on sustainability & innovation at Premier Vision Paris

Sustainability and innovation were the focus at Cotton Council International’s (CCI) booth at the recently held Premiere Vision in Paris, France. Première Vision represents one of the world’s largest exhibitions of apparel, fabric, and yarn manufacturers providing a venue for Cotton USA to promote US cotton and its global marketing and licensing programme.

International brands and retailers visited the pavilion, including Levi’s, Primark, Inditex, Lacoste, Lands’ End, Victoria’s Secret, Salvatore Ferragamo, Matalan, LPP, Liberty, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Berlutti, Citizens of Humanity, and Hermès.

Additionally, 22 Cotton USA-licensed manufacturers from Austria, China, France, India, Japan, Pakistan, Thailand, and Turkey displayed their products at Première Vision, adding visibility to US cotton. Regarding sustainability, CCI introduced the new US Cotton Trust Protocol, a programme that provides US cotton farmers a voluntary way to formally document and communicate common elements of best management practices – a significant step that further shows that US cotton is shrinking its environmental footprint, according to a press release by CCI.

“US cotton’s sustainability and innovation are ‘What’s New In Cotton’ right now. At Première Vision, we presented innovative technologies utilising US cotton, designed to inspire the textile industry, such as innovative traceability solutions and a sustainable alternative to traditional stretch fabrics,” CCI executive director Bruce Atherley said.

“The Trust Protocol will provide US cotton’s customers the confidence that they are sourcing, spinning and selling sustainably-produced US cotton. Through the collection of robust data, the Trust Protocol will remove risk by giving US cotton’s customers the evidence they need to demonstrate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and other sustainability pledges – making the Trust Protocol the right choice for today and tomorrow,” Atherley said.
